Veterans Day honors all military veterans who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Unlike Memorial Day, which honors those who died in service, Veterans Day celebrates all who have served.

History
Originally called Armistice Day, it commemorated the end of World War I on November 11, 1918. In 1954, it was renamed Veterans Day to honor all American veterans. The date was chosen because it marks the signing of the armistice that ended WWI.
